Football, Decisions & Employability
A football-based learning programme for young adults facing barriers to education, employment or social participation. The objective is not only to learn football coaching — it is to practise how to observe, decide, communicate, take responsibility and transfer those behaviours into everyday life and work.

Who it is for
Young adults who need a credible route back into participation.
The programme is designed for young adults who may be distant from education, employment or organised community life. It uses football because decisions, consequences, teamwork and responsibility become visible immediately — making abstract employability skills easier to practise and discuss.
This programme builds on social-inclusion education previously developed through Erasmus+ work and piloted with young adults in Spain. The exact timetable is adapted to the commissioning organisation.

Create psychological safety, establish group standards and define what reliable participation looks like.

Use football situations to practise scanning, information gathering and recognising options before making a decision.

Decisions under pressure
Work with time, uncertainty and consequences. Reflect on why some decisions improve when we slow the process down.

Communication & teamwork
Practise concise communication, listening, asking useful questions, giving feedback and adapting to different roles.

Leadership & responsibility
Move from participant to organiser: planning, explaining, supporting others and owning the result.

Coaching as a work skill
Plan and lead simple football activities. Use preparation, clarity, time management and feedback as transferable work behaviours.

Employability tools
Connect the behaviours practised in football to job search, CVs, applications, interviews, reliability and workplace expectations.

Practical assignment & next step
Deliver a real activity, receive feedback, document strengths and create an individual transition plan into work, study, volunteering or further coach education.
